NFL scores: Week 5

Broncos 51, Cowboys 48

Matt Prater kicked a 28-yard field goal to seal the Broncos' victory and close the book on one of the most thrilling games the NFL has season. It tied for the third-highest scoring game in NFL history, but a crucial Tony Romo interception opened the door for Peyton Manning and the Broncos improved to 5-0.

Cardinals 22, Panthers 6

Colts 34, Seahawks 28

Andrew Luck and the Colts are getting the best of 2012 draft class quarterbacks and NFC West foes this season -- first the 49ers, and now the Seahawks. Sunday's game in Indy was remarkably close, but the Colts were better on third down and Russell Wilson threw a late interception to seal Seattle's first loss in 2013. Luck and Co. are sending a message throughout the NFL -- the Colts are serious.

Packers 22, Lions 9

The scoreboard at Lambeau Field was supposed to get a workout Sunday -- both teams were averaging at least 400 yards of offense and 30 points through four weeks -- but the defenses came to play in the first half. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' offense eventually came to life in the final 30 minutes, and the Lions still haven't beat their division rivals in Green Bay since 1991. Not helping matters for Detroit, Calvin Johnson didn't play.

Bengals 13, Patriots 6

The Patriots were concerned without DT Vince Wilfork, but they should have been worried about the Bengals' defense, not their own. The Cincinnati defense came to play, and held Tom Brady under 200 yards passing. Adam "Pacman" Jones sealed the deal with a late interception.

Saints 26, Bears 18

After surprisingly good starts for both teams in 2013, the Saints-Bears matchup looked much more appealing than it did when schedules were released. The Saints held off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt from the Bears to remain undefeated and end a three-game road skid in Chicago.

Eagles 36, Giants 21

This is the opposite of the Saints-Bears matchup, in the sense that nobody expected a combined 1-7 record from the Eagles and Giants heading into Week 5. As bad as they have been, both teams still believed they are in contention in the mediocre NFC East, but the Giants should probably forget about it.

Sunday Night Football

49ers 34, Texans 3

The San Francisco 49ers turned a prime-time showdown into an all-out pick party at The Stick. Tramaine Brock perfectly read Matt Schaub's first pass of the night, jumped in front for an interception and ran 18 yards for a touchdown just 90 seconds into the game, setting the tone for a stellar defensive performance in a 34-3 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday night. Things only got better for Brock and San Francisco, and worse for Houston's beleaguered quarterback. Schaub threw three interceptions in all before being replaced in the fourth.

Chargers at Raiders

In a AFC West game that was moved to an 8:35 p.m. PDT kickoff because the Oakland Athletics hosted Game 2 of the AL division series Saturday night, the Raiders salvaged their season while the Chargers looked sluggish after last week's big win against the Cowboys.
