How many weeks are in a semester at UWA? ›

Each semester consists of at least 12 active weeks (from Semester 2, 2018) [note: 13 weeks in Semester 1, 2018].

Approximately 3-4 weeks before semester starts you will be allocated your classes and be able to view your timetable. Allocations are made based on the preferences you enter and are NOT allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.

Once you've enrolled in your units, your next step is to set up your class timetable by choosing the days and times that would suit you best for each of your classes. You do this in an online application called Class Allocation System (CAS).

Special Approval is the process where you can apply for a variation to standard course rules, unit rules, or enrolment dates. For example, to request enrolment overload, additional points to your degree or late enrolment in a unit. To apply, complete the online Special Approval form.

A standard full-time study load is four units per semester. The minimum number to be classified as full-time is three units per semester. You are welcome to study part-time (i.e. one or two units per semester) provided you complete your degree within 10 years.

Getting into your dream overseas university can be tough. UWA has an acceptance rate of 38%. This means that out of 100 international applicants, only 38 get admission to the university's tight-knit student body.

If you have failed a unit you will need to adjust your study plan to complete your course. This may extend the time needed to complete your course or you may be able to make up the failed unit by taking a unit during the UWA Summer School or another non-standard teaching period.

What grades do you need to get into UWA? ›

You can secure your place at UWA with an ATAR of 75 or above, or with an ATAR of 70 (see Broadway UWA, Fairway UWA and First in Family). Use your final Year 12 ATAR to apply for UWA courses. We'll be providing offers based on your predicted ATAR from your Year 11 results.

Two five-month long semesters make up a full academic year. Semester 1 runs from February to June and Semester 2 runs from July to November.

A semester system generally consists of two 15-week terms, while a quarter system consists of four 10-week sessions. A quarter system consists of four 10-week sessions in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. The average full-time student takes 3-4 courses per term, or 9-12 credits.
